Fostering Hope is excited to introduce its newest initiative, “Fostering Phones,” dedicated to providing free phones and cellular service to teens and young adults in foster care. Cell phones are not a luxury; they are a lifeline. They enable us to apply for jobs, communicate with peers, maintain connections, check grades, research colleges, and more. Without a phone, youth cannot access the essential services they need to thrive. A lack of internet and digital communication access significantly hinders a teen’s transition to independence and adulthood.
Feedback from our county partners has highlighted a critical gap: the absence of programs providing cell phone access to teenagers and young adults in foster care. In response, Fostering Hope is thrilled to offer “Fostering Phones” for teenagers.
Currently this initiative is being offered exclusively by Berks, Chester, Delaware, Lower Bucks, Montgomery, and Philly-NE Chapters. If you are a teenager or young adult in foster care, or if you care for one, please contact your local participating chapter of Fostering Hope. They will assist you in submitting an application to receive a refurbished phone, a protective case, and a year of service, subject to available funding.
This hallmark initiative is made possible by the generous support of the Justamere Foundation. However, we still need additional funding to continue providing phones to those who need them most.
